Study On CBD Found Timing Of Administration Crucial To Effects On Anxiety And Sleep

The cannabis plant contains more than 80 different compounds called cannabinoids. It has been known to treat a variety of ailments including nausea, epilepsy, malaria and gout. Today CBD has been popularized as a supplement to relieve pain, anxiety and help with sleep.

A study that was published in The Permanente Journal found CBD most effective on anxiety and sleep depending on the time it was administered. 103 psychiatric patients involved were given CBD doses of 25 mg/d in capsule form. Those who sought treatment for anxiety were given doses in the morning after breakfast while those who complained of poor sleep were given doses after dinner instead. The trial lasted 30 days and although some had to have their dosage increased, a majority of patients reported improvements in sleep quality or reduction in anxiety.
